Beijing vs Shanghai in the opening match of the new CSL season!

The new Chinese professional football league (CSL) season kicked off on April 22, and it was a thrilling one as Beijing Guoan and Shanghai Shenhua faced off in the opening match.

The match at the Beijing Workers Stadium was expected to be a clash between two of the most successful teams in China's top flight. Beijing Guoan is one of the oldest clubs in the country, having been founded in 1954. They have won six CSL titles and are widely regarded as one of the best teams in Asia. On the other hand, Shanghai Shenhua is another powerhouse, having won four CSL titles since 2012.

The match started off with both teams trying to establish their dominance early on. However, it was Shanghai Shenhua who took the lead first through a goal from midfielder Lu Shiwen in the 16th minute. The lead didn't last long though, as Beijing Guoan equalized just before halftime through a goal from striker Zhang Yuning.

In the second half, Beijing Guoan dominated possession and created several chances. Their efforts were rewarded when they scored twice in quick succession through goals from forwards Yu Zheng and Zhang Linyang. The final whistle blew just minutes later, with Beijing Guoan leading Shanghai Shenhua 2-1.

Despite the win, Beijing Guoan coach Ji Minjie acknowledged that there were areas for improvement. "We have made some mistakes in the game," he said. "But overall, we are happy with the result."

Shanghai Shenhua manager Lu Xiang also expressed his satisfaction with the performance of his team. "We played well in the second half, but we still need to work on our defensive solidity," he said. "We will continue to improve and compete in this league."
